hi i have a 96 explorer xlt v6 last week the oil presure gauge flickerd and droped down to nill oil presure when tested it was intermitant does this mean a new oil pump any clues please

You could try to replace the sensor to see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn't it may be the pump.

my ford

thanks tony have changed sensor, but when you turn on ignition switch oil gauge shows presure half way up on scale before you start the engine. latest news oil pump new one being fitted, big end shells being changed [2of them started to pick up ] all 6 sets done. found plastic and bolt in sump [oil pan] traced to timeing chain tensioner replaced. hope all this work is worth it in the end estimated cost £950 so far
