Oil Recomendations

I have an '03 Limited with the 4.6 engine and she is ready for her first oil change. Is it to early for synthetic? What do you guys recommend for the first change?

If your ready for your first change, it's not too early for synthetic. I believe your 03' requires 5w/20, so if you use Mobil 1 you will need to use 0w/20.

Why the difference? I my Sport uses 5w/20, so I used 5w/20 synthetic. Is there something I should be aware of?

What about royal purple? some of my friends have put that in their 4bangers and said they run much smoother and are a little quicker

IMO, change intervals of 3 months or 3,000 miles is far more important than having synthetics in your engine. Regular oil will do just fine but stay away from generic brands.

Are you at 3,000 miles now?

Mobil 1 does not make a 5w/20 oil that is available everywhere yet, but they do make a 0w/20 that meets Ford specs and won't void your warranty.

Yes X I am at 3000 already. I ran Mobil 1 in my V-10 and it actually used a little oil but with regular oil it did fine. I am thru trading every 2-3 years so I plan on keeping this one and I want to take good care of it. Thanks for any and all input.

well, AMG, M (as in BMW), and a ton of other companies recommend mobile1. for ease of availability id go with mobile1. change my filter every 3000 and oil every 6000.
