Hi All
Just got my second Explorer after a long brake.
Can anyone help me with some info on these oil restrictor valves to stop
the oil draining from the tensioner.
i.e do they work how hard are they to fit l have a good mechanical knowledge
but can't seem to find any fitting info on them.

thanks
Stu

If you look at the engine from the front, just under the manifold on the inside of the right hand head (as you look) there is an oil tensioner bolt. Just behind that is a T30 grub screw plug that you undo and drop a plastic pencil type thing into. You will have to remove the upper intake manifold (plenum) to access it. If yours still has the old style tensioner then you ought to do the whole oom12 kit as this includes a new uprated tensioner and new upper and lower mani gaskets. For the manifold and the grub screw you need T30 and for the tensioner you need 27mm deep socket.

Yea thanks for that was going to fit the new tensioners when
Can get some.
Thanks for the info that helps

Generally buying the oom12 kit works out cheaper than just the tensioner and new gaskets even tho it has them in the kit along with the restrictor and a new gallery plug. The rear tensioner has to be purchased separately. I think uk ford list the oom12 kit as manifold kit.
If you do ebay search for that you may be lucky as national clearance centre sometimes list them cheap
