I'm going to be real original here, I want to put 20" wheels under my '91 2wd.
I want to go with 20x8.5 +15 offset w/275/45/20 tires. My reason for posting is this question... What is the lowest that I can go with this setup? I do not want rubbing issues this is my daily driver. All replies are appreciated.

Eibach makes a lowering kit for your generation, so I would just use that. Anything lower, you'll need to find drop I-beams for the front a big blocks for the rear. Ranges from 2" or so on the kit, I-beams do 3-4", but rubbing might be an issue there.

2-3" is the most you'll be able to go with that big of a tire for no rubbing. I've got 255/55-18's and the 2" eibach springs with very little clearance left. I haven't had a chance to actually drive it since installing these, but I'll probably go to a 255/45-18 when the time comes so I can drop it some more. Your 275/40-20 should be about 29.7", versus my 255/55-18 at about 29.0".

Try a 245/40/20 if you want to go a little lower.

After a lot of thought ... I think I decided that I want to go LOW, so I guess that I will want to run 18's now. 5-5 drop. I just don't want the look of a 4x4 with big wheels. I have a 2wd so I want it slammed. Thanks guys for the info.

Hey Dan, do you have any pics of your X with the 2" springs and the 18's?

They're not the best pics, but it might give you a bit of an idea. I've got the 2" springs up front, and 2" blocks in the rear. Keep in mind that my hood, front bumper, lights, etc is still off the truck. Also, the radiator and crankcase are empty of fluids, and my battery is out. That weight will very well lower it another 1/2"-1" up front.

Thanks Dan... That gives me a good idea. I think that I will have to go with a 5" drop. Thanks to all for all of the replies and knowledge.
