I to first thank everyone who has help me out, The Guys at the Ranger forum where also very helpful. Also I like to thank the guys at the junkyard for helping me get the parts I need, I was there for the past 3 days. Also I like to thank Don Knott Ford and there servie people for takeing time to anwser my questions.

Ok here is the question, My temp Sensor Does not have the standred wireing colors that are describe above. So here is how it is connected, and I need to fingure out if it is giveingme the correct reading.

The two wires that come out of my temp sensor are Black/Pink
and Orange/Red.

I have the black/pink wire connected to Blue/Yellow
and
Orange/Red Connected to Blue/White,
Does anybody know if this is correct or not, and how can I tell If I have the write reading?

Thanks again.

buy a cheap thermometer at the store and stick it right next to the sensor. Leave it there for a few minutes then compare. That will tell you if it is right or wrong

Yea I forgot that I have another temp gague that I bought and its way off. It read's like 27 degree(the one on the consual) So do I have a bad temp Gague?

Oh good! I'm glad that I'm not the only one whose console reads way off. Mine reads about that low as well. My temp sensor also doesn't have the standard wire colors. Hmmmmm...I'm making some progress on figuring this out. Maybe we both have the wrong temp sensor assembly. I thought I had a bad console.

The best thing to do is take the console and the temp gauge from the same donor vehicle. If that is not possible make sure if you get your console from an explorer the temp sensor is also from an explorer (preferably for the same year) apperantly you can't take a console from an Explorer and a temp sensor from a navigator and make it work. Now the $64,000 question is why Ford doesnt use the same temp sensor for all their vehicles. Oh wait I know why they want us to go pay them exorbitant amounts of money to do something that we wanted to do ourselves. And if they don't get to do the work for us they will charge alot for the parts. Oh well. I suggest going to a boneyard and looking in rolled vehicles for temp sensors with the same wire colors as you have coming from your console.

But before you do all that looking you might just try connecting the black/pink to the blue/white and the orange/red to the blue yellow. Maybe you just had the wires hooked up incorrectly.

Good Luck

Yee haw. I got if figured out. Ok here it is, You may be able to get it to work with those different color wires, but I went down to the junkyard and exchange my ones with the odd colors for ones with the right colors. but before you do that give this a try, this is what I did.

Turn on you truck, make sure the cousual is also on. then if you wired it anything like mine switch the wires around. (for ex in my case I ran a red a black wire) I connected the red wire to where the black wire was and the red to the other one. go check the reading, does it seem right? if so turn you truck off and back on to check if it stays the same, if goes back to the wrong reading leave it on and switch the wires again. give it a few minuets cross you fingers trun you truck off and then back on see if its normal. I just got mine working so I will check it in about an hour or so and see if it stands the test of time.
