OK, So What Do You DISLIKE About The 5th Gen?

The headlights in the sport are horrible...not sure why ford didn't put HIDs in their top of the line model.
This has been brought up before as has the question as to which is the top of the line model. Sport is higher priced because of the engine but the Limited has more options/features. That will likely all be put to bed when the 2016 Platinum comes out.;)

It just seems like my sport has every option in the book and the power..looks..feel ect and price. just figured to me it was top of the model but i am sure there are a few more settings on the limited like you said.

Or at least put them in the sport AND limited!

I assume you are referring to the 3rd row since buckets are available for the 2nd row. Are the 3rd row seats not actually bucket seats anyway? The 40 part of a bench is actually a bucket seat and if memory serves me correctly, are the individual 3rd row seats not the same as it?

Peter

no im referring to the second row seats i opted out of the storage box in the middle wen i built my car on true car not knowing there would be no where for passengers to put thier dangling arms....:thumbdwn:

I'm not familiar with the True Car build option but on the Ford site I think you would have seen that there were no armrests. I has also been a topic that was discussed here quite often before the console became available as an option. If you really want to, the console can be ordered and self installed. Members have done that.

That makes it sound as if Ford sees (pun) HID's as luxury item and not as a performance item.

But why no HID on a 50K vehicle is beyond me. Just for giggles I looked up what I think is bottom end vehicle, Kia Soul, and you can get HIDs on that.

all about saving $ wen i bought my 01 mustang gt i noticed in 99-00 the belt tensioner came with three bolts and 01-04 had a single bolt so just from getting rid of 2 simple blots per car they probly saved millions...and single bolt tensioners sucked if u added a little power

Ours doesn't have the console and I'm happy for that. Our cooler fits in that spot very nicely. the wife was able to reach into the cooler easily from the front seat. I just put a folded up towel in front of the hump to make a level spot for the cooler.

We don't often travel with more than just the two of us, but I suppose the cooler could double as arm rest too.

I dislike the overall width of the vehicle. From mirror to mirror it barely clears my garage door. It's also hard to find a parking space wide enough so you can open the door. The width of the vehicle along with the large doors make it a parking lot nightmare, and prone to a lot of door dings.

Doesn't it apply to all big vehicles?

It might have something to do with when Ford announced the Sport, they said they were slotting it above the Limited Explorer.

The Sport costs them more to make than the Ltd, and too many Sport sales over the Ltd would eat into their profit margins. The Sport only exists to attract people to the 5th gen who find the base V6 gutless, so it's there to pick up new customers, not get existing customers to pay the same price for a slightly more expensive to manufacture product. It would also cut into their CAFE if they sold too many of the more gas-thirsty Sports.

Dislikes?

Hey guys, I have a 2015 Explorer XLT and love it, but I want to hear some criticism as to what people don't like about this car.

For me it's the ride height, I wish this car was just an inch or two taller

For me the biggest gripe has to be the foot well. It's a big truck but it's almost like they made the drivers area for smaller people. There is nowhere for me to rest my left foot, if I use the dead pedal my foot is pretty much sideways as the wheel well protrudes big time. Also for me to brake pivoting my foot from gas to brake pedal I have to hit only the outer third of the pedal if I try going for the middle my foot hits the ventilation tubing underneath. Also wish seat clicked back a few more clicks, wish it was a little wider, maybe a little longer like a truck seat should be. I read somewhere that ford only makes like 5 seats to cut down cost and they just fit it to differente rails rather than having a differente seat for each model. This explains the tiny seat.

My only complaint (for my 2016 Sport) is that the fuel tank is too small.

Seating is too far inboard. Too much space between me and the door armrest.

Foot well !!!!
Seats!!!
Radio quality sound... I think for 50k it should sound way better!!!
With the sport that hesitation of the engine to respond when u step on it to the floor sometimes!!!!
No auto rear windows!!!! 50k and no auto rear windows... That sucks...
And it should have auto rain sensors wipers ...
With the sport I would have thought they would have better seats.... Seats that would hug so u don't slide around....
Remember it's a 50k suv... These things should not be issue...

Footwell is hard to get around, I truly don't understand it and according to reviews I've read online it supposedly improved over the 2015's. I can't imagine it being any worse, it's a shame because I love that everything you touch is padded and feels great it would be a great long road trip vehicle but my left leg would probably fall off.

You have to remember it's a $30K SUV to which they have added some fairly cheap parts and pieces and charged you $50K. I spent $30K for the XLT and it's not a bad vehicle at that price point, add $20K to it, and it becomes a terrible value in my opinion.

Maybe the platinum should have been your choice if those are your main gripes.

Auto wipers, much better stereo than the sport, and wider seats.

I agree with the footwell issue though. You get 300 miles in a tank, so that's about normal.

What I don't like is the headlights. They flat suck.
