A while back I posted about my truck having a problem while turning left. It would loose power for a second. This was on faster take offs or on sharper left hand turns at speed. Thoughts were a wire or something getting pinched or even a bad motor mount.

After reading a bunch on here I read about the 1/4 tank downhill dieing problems. I am thinking my problem is from the Sock(Fuel Strainer) in the tank. I am thinking it is loosing fuel from it on those turns. Just a slight hic-up. Pressure from the gas pushing to the right and the Strainer floating up and out of the fuel in the tank.

What are your thoughts on this? Could be a tear in the strainer.

Only have experience with my 96. Changed fuel pumps last week. There is no way the sock can float up on top of the fuel. It is FIRMLY attached to the bottom of the fuel pump housing. My 96 is USA assembled, Mexican fuel pumps are different, I found our while looking for a new pump.

Thanks for the info. Now I will still have to figure out why this thing stutters turning left. Is the Mexican pump shorter or longer? Can someone have put in the wrong one? Or do they bolt up different?

Wire terminals are different size IIRC.

There are major differences between the made for USA and the made for Mexico pump. Here in Prescott Valley, Az. I could not purchase just the fuel pump. Not from NAPA, CarQuest, Auto Zone, or O'Reillys. I had to buy the complete lower assembly, cut the wires from the upper assembly. So, there was no need to open the lower assembly to see what the actual pump looked like. I am assuming it is the same as the one I replaced. Looking on any auto parts web site, you can see the different style pumps. Sorry I cant be of any more help.
