Anybody know off the top of their heads if a 5speed manual trans from 92 explorer will directly bolt in to replace 5 speed manual trans in a 96? Im havin hard shift problems from 1st to 2nd. Sometimes dosent want to go into first have to hit reverse first. Found a wrecked 92 cheap would buy it if itll work with no hassle.

Yep, OHV right? well i guess it wouldnt really matter

91-00 the 5-speed tranny is identical. It will bolt up

The newer ones 01-present are supposedly beefier, they too should bolt up. But of course i dont know for sure since ive never done it =)

make sure the freeze plugs on the shifter, to the rear of the shift rails are replaced with METAL freeze plugs. They come rubber from the factory, which is 90% of the reason why these trannys ever fail

the other 10% is from running BIG tires with LITTLE gears.
