I'm new here as I just got me a 1993 Explorer for the family do-it-all car. I want to install a receiver hitch which I just picked up today at a local salvage yard. It's a U-haul model and I'm assuming it's older because it attaches differently than I see most new ones do. It utilizes the 2 bumper attachment holes on the frame in addition to the normal attachment points on the frame. I didn't know this until after buying the hitch. I removed it from a similar model but the bumper didn't attach the same way (I don't recall how it was attached.) Anyway, I'm trying to remove the 2 screws with the strap from the bracket so I can attach the hitch. The manual says I just have to remove the nuts and the screws and strap will slide out. Well it doesn't and I've tried everything to remove them. It seems like the screws might be welded to the bracket. Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks,
~Dee
