I have a 91" explorer, 2wd, 6" skyjacker lift. And i was watching this show today and the experts said that the front end on a 2wd vehicle is lower than the rear? Is this true? Anyways, i was looking for some coil spacers for my explorer and i was wondering how much lift they provide and where i can get them.

Most SUV's and light trucks sit higher in the rear from the factory. This usually isn't as noticable on SUV's as it is on the trucks. The reason they are built in this manor is so when you load the cargo aera the vehicle will sit level instead of nose high. The theroy behind this is simple, the higher the front is vs. the rear the worse the vehicle handles. As the front goes up (and the rear down) the front suspension unloads which affects braking, steering, alingment and can ubstruct the view of the driver. As far as lifting the front of your X your best bet would be to get a new set of coil springs.

but can't you just use coil spacers, it would be a lot cheaper. You only need to raise it a little bit.
 






or you can just leave it be... you already have a 6".... a little rake forward isnt going to hurt anything.....hell my truck will soon have 5" lift in the back and nothing up front

ok i know but i want it to at least be level it looks a little strange sometimes when it is tilted forwards. Ok if i was to get spacers, what kind should i get, how hard are they to get put on?
 






with a 6" lift i would not do spacers also.... that will screw things up possibly.... a little forward rake looks a lot better than a sagging rear, that will probably happen if you raise the front....

is there any way to measure the sag. What are the options for the coil spacers, as in size of lift. Because i have heard of some that only raise 1 inch and others that raise like 1.75"
 






There is a company that makes spacers from .5" to 2" for 91-94 explorers. They are used as a cheep alignment fix for sagging front springs but would still do what you are trying to acheive. The only thing with the 2wd's is that the stud that holds on the spring and perch may not be long enough for the spacers. I tried putting on the F-150 coil spacers while i had my 2wd axle up front and the stud was like .5" to short. When I converted to 4wd the stud was that much longer. I will check on the company that makes the spacers and if the have a stud extension for the 2wd's when I get to work tomorrow.

is there a website for this site, and how much can i expect to pay for these spacers and bolts
 






the web site is www.specprod.com they only make a .75" and a 1" spacer for the 4wd explorers. They will work on the 2wd's but the bolt won;t be long enough so you will also need to get the 2wd f-150 extended bolts or bolt extenders. The spacers themselfs sell for around 20 bucks a piece.

Yep the 2wd is a little lower in the front. Go figure.

You want spacers??? Rick has em. See the Daystar bushings post in the for sale forum. In fact we dropped the price on the kit this am!!

I'm running the Daystar on mine with 5.5 SL..Was able to get it aligned, and so far love them. It made the ride alittle harsh, but all the spring pop and creaks are gone. I figure it was a fare trade off. And, I think my next set of meats will be 37's or 38's.

how much is onvovled in their installation? Is it kind of a hassle to get them installed. Also, how big of spacers should i get for my 2wd, with 6" lift?
