i am thinking of replacing my stock muffler with a flowmaster, but i dont want it to sound like a war wagon and be so much interior noise you cant hear the radio, but a mellow rumble out of my 4.0 sohc v-6. Any suggestions or comments??? I am also wanting to install a cold air box, will this make a big difference in the sound??

i have a 98 sohc engine...i boaght the kkm intake and i like it, it gives a good sound too.....for the flowmaster....i couldnt find any that would fit my engine for the 2-door, i'm going with a custom exhaust with a magnaflow muffler....from what i hear on the forum its a good muffler that gives a good sound

Try the Flowmaster 50 SUV. I have it, and I like it alot. Not annoyingly loud, but you can tell its not stock. It sounds almost stock at idle, but gives a good roar if you step on it. Not so loud though that people will look at you like WTF?

Oh yea, i couldnt find one that fit my truck either with regards to the pipe diameter. A good shop will be able to make it work though, just make sure you get it welded, and ask for the price before hand.

Have a custom cat back made with the muffler of your choice used.

Enjoy.......

I agree with everyone, grab yerself a flowmaster 50, it sounds great, its not too loud, just loud enough :)

you will notice sound gains from both an intake and an exhaust.. an upgraded intake will make your exhaust alittle louder and deeper.

dont hold yer breath for performance gains however :P

I like FLOWMASTER too.

I like Magnaflow:

alec, you call $400 for some bent pipes "inexpensive" ? heh, thats 2 months for me..

that's for 5.0 headers, and yes, that's inexpensive compared to some other brands.

Darkfox stop posting in regards to performance...you'll discourage others who actually will get results. I have the flowmaster 40 series...got performance gains that i noticed.

your truck is a bit different than his. everyone gets different results. plus, youve got duals with a freer flowing muffler.

well I dont think I'm the only one who hasn't noticed any differences from these mods.. its always good to have more than 1 opinion..
