Howdy,
Im about to do the shackle install on my explorer and i just have a quick question. My plans were to jack the truck up under the frame, and then put stands under the axel. Will this be alright? Or is jacking up the truck even neccessary? I looked through the Hanes manual but the closest info i can find is how to remove the leaf spring which i would imagine a bit more complex than this.
thanks!
Matthew

jack the truck up and put the jackstands under the frame right infront of where the leaf springs mount in the front.... you will need to move the axle up and dow nto get the leafs and new shackles to line up right. good luck, just did mine last night and am very happy with the results. :D

Like dman726749 wrote...You support the rear from the frame. Then place a jack under the rear axle since you will need to raise and or lower it to align the shackle bolts. Basically you are supporting the rear from the frame to take the load off the leaf spring.
