Hi,

I have a 1997 xlt and one of the fog lights is out. Do I need to go to an advance auto parts type place to get a new light?

The foglight is just a normal type bulb found at a parts store. Should be a regular H3 bulb.

If you mean you broke the fog light assembly, you can get a exact replacement from Rockauto for around $40 plus S&H

How is physically replaced? I'm not good with vehicles. Do I reach up behind the light to pull the old bulb out?

yes basically that.. I think there is a spring clip type holder in place for the bulb.

Just replaced a fog light bulb on my EB. Even thought manual said it was an H3 bulb, it was not; instead it was an 899 bulb. Both are readily available in auto parts store. No need to dismount the light; you can unscrew the connector ring and just pull the socket out from the back.

I bought at 899 light. I pulled the connector and it is now disconnected. Can I now just pull hard to get the light out. It seems to be firm?

I got it. You have to twist the back of the light first then it comes out.

Is there light? :)

Yes, everything is working fine with the replacement.

You know.. those fog lights don't really help much (and most definitely not in a fog). I was once obsessed with replacing them on my 98 when they did go out but after a while, I just said F[ork] it. I think they are more for looks than anything else.

Mine don't work- one housing is smashed on the backside and I think the other bulb is burnt out. I'm in no hurry to fix them either.

The switch on my dash intermittantly lights up at night.

I'm thinking just wiring up some good auxilary lights- haven't decided on the mounting method yet though.

I agree with IZ- they're more looks than function, but my '00 round lights do work a lot better then my '95 or '97 lights did. But, the lights in my '95 were MUCH better once I put new assemblies in. Even with new assemblies though, my '00 lights are brighter.
