I have a 1997 Explorer XLT with 130,000 miles that's been sitting for 6 years. My fuel system issues were documented in another thread and I've about got that licked.

I've done the obvious: fuel filter, oil and filter. Spark plugs are scheduled. If fuel system is clean, it seems to run pretty good.

What other things are necessary to get this back drivable?
I wonder about changing the brake fluid, transmission filter and fluid, steering system fluid, differential (manual says its lifetime lubricated), transfer case fluid, spark plug wires?

Thanks.

I would also replace the air filter and clean the MAF sensor and IAC valve.

Thanks. I did replace air filter and cleaned MAF sensor (it was very clean). Haven't done the IAC.

Still wondering about changing the brake fluid, transmission filter and fluid, steering system fluid, differential (manual says its lifetime lubricated), transfer case fluid, spark plug wires?

If you are going to replace the spark plugs, do the wires at the same time. It's easiest to do them thru the wheel wells.
