Anyone else notice that you can't go past 7th gear in Sport Mode while using paddle shifters in a ST?

I have been searching all over the net to find this mentioned, and haven't seen it discussed anywhere.

I don't think you are limited to 7 gears but definitely for a given speed, the highest gear selected is lower than in normal mode. I honestly don't get why they did this.

That's intetesting...I will have to try that out. I was on a 2 lane road doing about 55 or so, and it wouldn't go past 7th gear. I was still over 2k rpms though, so it's not like I would have been dogging it in 8th.

I don't know about 55 but at my normal highway speeds of 65-75 mph, you can definitely select up to 10th gear.

But for instance, in manual mode, I can select 8th gear while cruising at 45mph in Normal, but Sport mode will only allow 7th gear.

Are you saying at highway speeds in Sport mode you have selected past 7th? (Just want to be sure I am understanding you as you also mention being in Normal). Thanks!

Yes, all the way to 10 in Sport using manual shifting.

turbo engines are susceptible to low speed pre-ignition, which can do damage if it knocks hard enough, so even in manual mode it will automatically downshift when you open the throttle, and will will stop you from upshifting too far at low speed, both to keep the revs up and protect the engine.
