Hi-all. Has anyone out there wired-in an XM onyX receiver on their Explorer? I'm not happy with the FM transmission quality and I can't find a jack inside the cab to plug in the audio cable from the onyX. Help!

You doing fm direct or fm wireless?

I've tried fm wireless, but not happy with sound quality. I'll go with fm direct if I can't find a way to connect the audio out to some sort of audio in (aux in ?) on my factory in-dash single cd radio.

Hey, thnx for the link. I'll look into it.

i have the same unit and i ended up replacing my head unit with a sony xplode with aux jack however there is a direct fm hookup kit that runs for 50 or so bucks @ best buy or even from xm themselves that connects directly into your antenna jack in the back of your deck which is considered in the manual as "best" just like aux hookup for sound quality. However just to let you know sat radio is a little less bitrate than say cd or even conventional terrestrial radio because its transmitted by sat and they have to keep the packets a little smaller so there is no lag :my2cents:

Thanx for your input. Since I posted the original question, I installed the fm adaptor from XM. Works great with XM, not so good with standard broadcast, seems to reduce the antenna signal. Weak stations cut in and out now and didn't before. I'm still looking for a solution that doesn't cost $120.00.

make sure you turn the satellite radio off if you listen to regular am/fm radio

Thnx, Kelly2. My OnyX head end isn't plugged into the dock and the fm signal is low. I'm thinking of a manual "A-B" antenna switch with lower losses.
