I have a 2000 Xlt V8 Explorer and the open door light will not go off. I think it is a problem with the rear lift gate. Any suggestions on how to fix. Thanks

Are your interior lights staying on as well?

They stay on as well. I have to manually turn them off.

Turn the key on and open the doors one at a time. It should chime when a door is opened. When you get to the door/hatch/window that doesn't ding, that is your problem.

Thanks for the tip. It was the rear hatch giving me the problem. I have the wires unplugged from the locks for a quick fix for now.

The fix is to use wd40 or some other lube and work it into the lock. You can do this buy spraying it and opening/closing the door a dozen times. Seems like a common problem on the forums.

I tried the WD40 fix with no luck. A mechanic friend of mine mentioned that to me some time back.

Glad you got it figured out

sounds like junkyard part time
