Thanks again John!!!

Well the show was a huge success, and tons-o-fun, we had a great time seeing all sorts of peoples we haven't seen in ages, some really nice cars, and some new products from the Ford motor company also.

Lori got to run the drag strip which she had never done before, and looks like she may actually be hooked, she kept going down and around and down and around, well you get the idea, poor GT500 got the **** beaten out of it, with all our luggage and junk in it, it produced massive wheel hopping 12.40's.

On the dyno it produced 525rwhp, the twin turbo Viper produced 918rwhp.

I have a vid of Lori's 2nd run ever down the quarter mile, I'll send that to John and see if he'll put it up for us.

This was what the original Fun Ford Weekends used to be like, a giant drag racing, car showing, Mustang/Ford talking PARTY!

Hijack!!!!

Just in case anyone was interested...here is the link to the flickr account that has the pics from Saturday. On page 7, you will see our friend Bobby with his 2009 GT500KR that won "Best Paint" at the show!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/latemodelresto/sets/72157622698733079/detail/

And yes, I am hooked. Not too shabby going down the track the first time in a standard, 525 rwhp GT500 and not making an absolute fool of myself. I am ready to take Reaper down the track. I know him a lot better and would think I could do a lot better on my times especially with no wheel hopping. :p:

Wow, very nice cars and the hot pictures. Those pistons got melting hot, it's a shame the KB died that way when new.

Jeff, thanks for the picture of the Watts link and rear section. I'll hope to get to working on that kind of stuff next Spring.

For the new engine, have you planned for cams yet? Think hard about who you get cams from, custom cams should be very valuable for a nice engine like that. Ask Jay Allen for help, he's my choice. Regards,

Thank for the thread info Don, and it was really great to brainstorm with you on the phone lastnight, I hope we can help each other out in the near future.

Here is what the blower gear case oil looks like with just under 200 miles on it

Still haven't heard back from James at Kenny Bell, I might have to get my Big Boy pants on and start rasing a stink, and that could get not-so-nice.

But on another note, here's a pic for both Tim and Alec (Varoom Type guy, and Lacky) A little Blown Fox that I'm selling for a friend

jeff, i'm interested.....BUT ask her if i can take it for a test drive. it will be short, i only want to go for about 11 seconds, thats all :D

I appreciated the time yesterday too Jeff. That Mustang and all of the projects are what make this worth while. It just takes time and patience.

The oil in that KB doesn't look good, that is a shame. The KB is supposed to be one of the most reliable blowers of all, the rpm's are much lower and have tight tolerances etc. I do wish we could source these Autorotor blowers from somewhere besides KB.

I love those huge tires, nice, and the brakes. Those front calipers are almost as big as what I'm working with this next time. Bigass brake pads, 1" thick, six pistons.

Ditto on the ride, but I'd want one of the GT500's to drive. I'm not a manual guy at all, but I appreciated my friend making be test drive his 03 Cobra after we put a pulley on it. That was only a 13.5 second car, but still tons of fun. Regards,

So after no reply from Kenny Bell about the blower I called all three numbers listed, and the last number netted me someone name Terry I belive, who gave me the impression he could give two ***** about my problem with the blower.

So while on the phone I described the issue, and he said the knocking noise was the spider coupler, which I figured, and that's also why the blower oil was gooey consistency, but that the blackness was due to over heating of the blower, from over reving it.

Funny, we're using the 3.25" pulley, to make 16lbs of boost, and were also given a smaller 2.75"pulley to make 22lbs of boost by...................

Speeding up the rpm's of the blower!!!!

We used the small pulley once, made 920rwhp, and that was TOO much for the short block to handle, and had it removed immediately.

Funny, well then I told him I needed and RMA# to return it, to which he told me to look on they're site for the return application, to no avail I couldn'y easily find it:

http://www.kennebell.net/faq/faq1.htm

Then came the good part, now not telling him who I was or what I do, he asked "Who installed the blower, you or a shop??!!"

I said "I did!" Then silence on his end.

Basically he asked all the questions, and made all the implications that they're "Limited" implied warranty indicates.

So I'll box it up ship it off and let them tell me it probably won't be under warranty for some stupid reason and charge me $800 to rebuild SC that has less than 200 miles on it.

Oh did I mention that he didn't say "Bye" or "Have a nice day" or ANYTHING, he just plat hung up, what a toolbag!!!!

So I'll send this off and guess we'll see.

$50 to ship it there and another $50 to have it shipped back, fix or not!!

If not fixed I'll have a $8k paper weight for my desk I guess, or wheel chock out in the shop.

yea, after service like that, i would be sending it back alright, through there front window. i should take this thread and post its link up on our local car site just to warn others about the problems that you have had jeff. that and the fact they don't seem to stand behind there product. i know you where saying you guys have a certain budget, but can you imagine if there was a average joe like me that got one of those blowers and it screwed the motor! you have way more contacts then i do. I'd have a 8k paperweight, and a horse driven mustang!

That hurts to hear of that poor phone service. I know what that's like. But I also have an engine builder Jim(Woody) who is really hard to get on the phone. The difference is when you get through, you are talking to a friend. Woody is a car enthusiast and Ford engine guy, he's simply very very busy. That's the kind of customer service you want to find, hard to get to but because he's in high demand.

With the Griggs GR40TT almost the set-up setup that we're running, in a GT modded with the same 5.4 DOHC you'll get a great idea what we're running, watch along as Vicki Butler-Henderson gets her nickers wet over this beast, and then you'll understand why we have sooo much fun!!!!!!!

Very nice, wow I want that job. I like the Grigg's suspension, I just recently found out how much the pieces cost.

Well Don, after spending a lot of seat time in a lot of different handling/driving vehicles I can honestly tell you that it's worth every penny in the Mustang platform.

If you have ever pushed a Mustang on the edge of it's envelope (1979 and newer) you'll know really quick about snap-oversteer, and how dangerous it is, and how unresponsive and how little feed back a strut typer suspension in the Mustang platform is.

Now only have driven this S197 with the Grigg's top of the line GR40RT set-up, and 737rwhp, I can tell you that this thing talks to you all the way around, and lets you know with more than enough feed back to let you know if your going to get yourself into trouble or not.

Two days before we let the smoke out of the motor when it was just us and the GTX1 at the track it had been raining and there were still wet spots out, coming out of a long right hander and passing the GTX1 on the outside, I squeezed the trigger to put distance between us, the rear stepped out letting me know that I was too deep in the throttle and with little effort I was able to gather it back up and set her straight again, had this been even a 2000 R model I seriously doubt that would have been the case.

Griggs has a well thought out system and it works, I also have a Fox Body here in the shop with a Griggs set-up on it, although not near as radical as the Shelby, and still a strut front end, I can tell you that is does handle like it's almost on rails.

One of the traits that Griggs fixed was the front of the vehicle, the SLA set-up is truly the only way to go to get these cars to go around corners IMO.

Now even though I have spent time with Bruce on the phone over at Griggs and have compiled my own opinion, I will say that they're equipment does everything they say it does and that my friend is a HUGE shoe to fill!!!

If you ever get a chance to bail one of these around a track, no matter what level the car is set-up at, I would jump on the chance, Agent 47 right now is the ONLY other company to put an SLA under the front of a 1979 and new platform, and I'm itching to get behind the wheel of one of these set-up's to see the comparison between the two.

Thanks Jeff, I'd love to hear more about the differences. The SLA sounds very logical, but the prices I had to add several times to believe they wanted $2000+ as an option.

I know too well about the Fox oversteer, I killed my first LSC SE on a mild corner when a new shift kit went to 3rd. It swung out slightly, but I couldn't correct it, it went each way about two times before I went off the road and found a tree stump in the ditch.

I'm planning on the Grigg's k-member but the rest will likely have to be the MM stuff and struts.
