I haven't run either one, but by brand, sounds like you are comparing apples to oranges.

not to sure about the ameritrac tr? but their ameri-g4s street tires are good.... als ois ther grabber mud terrain

the yokohomas suck... i am in the tire industry.. they wear really funny, and are hard to balance... you must rotate them at least every 1000 miles... we have a lot of them come back and get tagged as "manufacturers defect", not becuase tehy are damaged, but becuase they didnt live up to the expectations of our customersin ride quality or tread wear characteristics.....

I don't know about the AmeriTrac TR, but my X had General Grabbers that were almost new (still had the little rubber stringy things and blue lettering) on it when I bought it. Within a year, they were worn bald, plus they sucked in the snow, rain, dirt and mud. Pretty crappy for an A/T tire. Just my .02

What about the Geolander MTs? I'm looking at them as a combo street/dirt tire so I don't have to wear out my MTRs on the street.
Thanks!

According to TireRack.com, the Yoko's have better customer review/ratings than the BFG AT KO's... I am also looking at gettin these tires b/c they aren't such the rip off that AT KO's are. (I'm not paying $159 for a tire)

Thanks Sean!

By the way... If my tranny had not blown its pump, I would have been first in line for the lift. Your truck looks great and I hope you know that everyone appreciates your efforts to get the word out.

01Baja4x4 are you out there!?
Rick

Yes, the Geolanders are GREAT tires. I have had 4 sets of BFG AT's(2 of ko's) and after doing a ton of research and talking to a lot of people, I decided to try the Geolander AT+II's this time. I have had them on for 6-7 months now and driven in all conditions but snow and deep mud. They handle like a street tire on the road(they are pretty soft so they stick well) and are great off road...especially sand, dirt, and loose rock. And yeah, you can't beat the price. I will never buy another brand A/T tire.

The only down side is that because they are a little soft, I rotate them every 3 thousand miles.

Get the Geolanders...You get what you pay for!!

Besides, the tread pattern is kick a$$!

if you want a tread pattern that is loud on the street and prone to hydroplaning, yeah, the AT KO's are great! :-p I won't even begin to bash BFG since they are the dynasty on this forum... but i think the Yoko's are going on my truck... Sound like the refined but still as capable older brother of the AT KO. (ratings say they have the same grip as a KO) but don't take my word for it...

YOUR MISSING TWO GREAT TIRES WHICH HAVE BETTER RATING THAN ALL MENTIONED THE KUMHO VENTURE MT AND THE BRIDGESTONE DUELER MT D673... CHECK THIS LINK OUT THE REVIEWS ARE QUIT FORTHCOMING....

I RECENTLY PURCHASED 4 OF THE KUMHO VENTURE TIRES BECAUSE OF PRICE AND WHAT THE REVIEWS HAD TO SAY... THE PRICE ALONE IS AMAZING... NOT TO MENTION THE ONLY BAD I HEARD WAS THAT THE COMPOUND MIGHT BE TO SOFT FOR THE STREET... HOWEVER THIS STATEMENT WAS MADE BY ONE PERSON ONLY!!!

Pictures of the Kumhos on your rig?

I'd like to see the tires on your truck. Do you have a picture?

Anybody out there have any experience with the Geolander MTs?? They are wider and taller than most 285-75R/16s and I like the tread pattern, but I'd like to hear some real life opinions.

mdlrvenom-
I gotta agree. I run 33x12.5 Dueler MTs and they absolutley kick @ss. Although I haven't ridden them for a long time, I have been completely impressed with them.

On road, the only time you notice the MT tread is between 5-15 mph. after that it is very quiet on highway and around town with good handling.
Off road, I can't say anything bad about them-snow, mud whatever. They grip.

Price I paid for 4, with stems, mounted, high speed balanced, and an alignment --$635 at 'town fair tire" (a northeast chain).
I printed out the price from etire.com (140.99) and they beat it (138.77).

Both are great tires but they are in a different class then Mo_Guy was asking about. For Mud tires, the Bridgestone seems to be a kick azz tire but for an All-Terrain, I still say go with the Yoko AT+II's.

baja,
sorry dude but i've heard in other posts that the yoko's wore very funny and sucked as far as how long they lasted ... for allterrain i'd have to say stick with the bf's
they been in the market the longest and have had a good following..

if i find the thread from the guy who was in the industry with the yoko's i'll post it..

but the reason i put the bridgestones and the kumhos in there was that they like sweaver said perform really well on the street (h2o, ice, snow, sand) and are an excellent off - road tire as well

but to each his own .... research, research , research...

explorgm,

i don't have any pics yet of the tires on my truck they are on order and should be arriving/put on in a week or so.. i'll send u some pics then...

i have to admit i'm jeolous of all u guys out in AZ... my sister went to the university of arizona in tuscan. and i went to her graduation and loved your state... i'm thinkin of movin once i get myself settled with my degree and job and all...
trust me jersey SUCKS , insurance, people weather, drivers, lowriders everywhere... NO PLACE TO WHEEL, need i say more!!
mdlr

Its a long way to go just for 120 degree warmth! We have our crappy drivers, lowriders and those pesky offroaders everywhere...

Thanks for the update about the pics.
Rick

Houston/Hartford

I know what you mean about the humidity. I lived in both Houston and near Hartford, CT and dealt with it. I really liked living in CT. Houston was really humid and hot though. I spent some time in Panama (Central America, not Florida) and that is some real humidity!

Don't be fooled by the "dry heat". Over 110 it is hot whether dry or wet!
