OPINIONS on Tire Size

Okay, I'm broke and my '99 Eddie Bauer Explorer needs tires desperately.

I have a buddy that will give me some great condition tires and I'm looking for opinions...

My Explorer is 100% stock.

Do you think 225/55/16 tires will look/ride decently?

They are a little smaller than stock, if I am not mistaken, but not by too terribly much.

Depends on what the stock size is.

If stock size is 255/70R16, they are going to be pretty small.

You could check the for sale section of the forums and see if there's any members close by that are parting out and will sell off their rims or just the tires for a deal.

Otherwise, check your local craigslist, there are plenty of good deals on used tires.

Personally though, I would just do whatever it takes and get new, good tires. Sell what you have to, mow some lawns, do some odd jobs. Tires are definitely one place not to skimp, they are the only thing between the vehicle and the road.
