You could get a perma cool efan from summit for $100 that pulls more air then that one and a thermostat for $40 - $50, the one I wanted was $70 and throttled the fan on instead of on then off and ran the fan for 30secs after the vehicle was shut off to cool the rad, only if it was above the turn on for the fan. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178451&highlight=efan

Some links and good info on'em. I'd do the perma cool and a controller from sumit for a little more money before I'd goto ebay for something like that.

i'd say thumbs down on that fan like nocturnall suggested go with the perma cool, or hell for that kinda money you might just aswell buy a flex-a-lite and be satisfied :)

Flex a lite's are over $200 I think for the fan, then I think you need a controller on top of that and they have a high amp draw. That fan in my link, the perma cool is low amp draw, moves more air then a flex-a-lite 150, only 300cfm less then a 180 and is only 12inch diameter so I'm pretty sure it should fit in the stock shroud. The 150 is 15inch at $206 and the 180 is 16inch at $307 so definately more costly then the perma cool and fan controller I suggested, also larger.

Nocturnall, How did you mount the fan? Did you keep the shroud? And is the fan loud? Thanks for all the help guys!!

Theres a seller on Ebay selling an EFan for Explorers comes with fan, thermostat, all mounting hardware. Heres the link. http://cgi.ebay.ca/FORD-EXPLORER-EL...107328781QQcategoryZ33600QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I know you get what you pay for, And it is no Flex-a-Lite, like Aldive's, but do you guys think it will do the job? Are there any negitive points on mounting the fan directly to the Rad via those straps that go through the rad?

Learn from my mistake. I tried using a cheaper fan and wound up paying for it the hard way. If I were you, I'd go with the same fan Aldive uses. This is the fan I use as well and it's great! It's almost like it was made for the explorer only.

Don't go cheap on something that if doesn't turn on can cause MAJOR damage.

good point Jakee. Only problem is I live in Canada, that $300 fan is more like $425 to me by the time it is shipped and border fees etc. I am strongly considering Nocturnall's set up. You see the reason I'm even considering an E fan is cuz I called Ford up to a price for a new fan clutch... $324 canadian. HAHAHA. They are god damn crooks!

that's fan setup I wanted to get, haven't gotten yet. Funds are not allowing it. From what I've read all efans are relativly loud. That's the same controller Aldive had I beleive just a different fan, I couldn't justify spending all the money on the fan when I could get that one for cheaper, pull more air, and draw less power.
