What do the stock motorcraft wires look like? Are they black with the red connector to the plug? It says the firing order on each wire (1,2,3, etc.) all the way down the wire about 1/2 inch apart, so I don't think they are original, but would like to know. Thanks.

I don't know what year you have, but mine is a '94, and they are grey. I am also curious if they would be the originals. So if anyone knows, let us know. Thanks

Mine also has the grey ford wires. They will have motorcraft or ford printed on the wires. I am pretty much sure they are stock. I have 150,000 miles so I need to replace them soon.

Thanks Brian. I will have to replace mine too.

Ford has used Grey wires w/black boots on all its vehicles since the early eighties. They will have the cylinder number as well as the Ford logo printed on them.

I just replaced my wires & plugs its alot of fun ;), in case you dont already know the passenger side aint fun I have heard of some different ways but I ended up going in through the wheel well to get the last one.
Oh well I probably didnt need that skin on my knuckles anyway . HAPPY WRENCHIN.

Mine were stock on my 94 and they were gray with red boots as you describe. Seems odd for a Ford but that's the way they were.

Mine were grey with orange boots and said motorcraft

grey wires w/ orange boots on mine as well. they have ford emblems on them.

...yes, I said red boots before, but yeah, I could say more orange-ish than red...reddish orange

I guess I should have mentioned that the black boots were on the distributor/coil pack end of the wires. The boots on the plug ends were in fact orange/red as everyone has pointed out.

Hey thanks a lot guys. After I used that CD-2 stuff the wires turned back to grey. and the boots were orange. Well guess it's time to replace them

grey with orange..if you still have them from your early model X you really should replace them. I was having some problems with my rig, replaced the wires and it drives like new, I couldnt believe it!
