I just bought an orion extreme 800 I was wondering if it is 1ohm stable?I bought two jl w3 in a bandpass box and the place that I bought it from already did the wiring.I can see in through the port and it looks like the subs voice coils are ran together but the subs are not ran in series the box only has one input and they wired them both to that. What ohm am I getting with them like that?Should I take them back out and run them in series?Sorry so long

no, it's not 1 ohm stable. the HCCA amps are.

i cant answer your question about how many ohms your setup is, because i dont know which W3's you have. are they the D2, D4, D6?

if they have dual 4 ohm voice coils, the best way to wire the coils is in series, then wire the subs in parallel. this will give you a 4 ohm mono load.

i have the d4s sorry lee

well, if the coils are wired in parallel and the subs are wired in parallel too, then it is a 1 ohm mono load. it looks like you're going to have to take the out and wire the coils in series. then you'll have a 4 ohm mono load.
good luck with your system. W3's are awesome, and that is kicks ass too.:)

the coils are wired in parallel but the subs are not.The subs hit so hard it gives me a headache, but I dont mind. The poweramper cap I have makes a world of difference.Rap music sounds awesome, but rock music sounds distorted a little.I bought audiobahn plates for up front that should help a little. There are so many knobs on that amp it is confusing

ok. that still makes it a 4 ohm mono load. that's just not the way subs are usually installed.

the reason why the sound quality isnt perfect (you said rock music sounds a little distorted) is because it's a bandpass enclosure. that narrow the frequency range and alters the waves to boost certain frequncies in the middle while cutting the others.

if you go to a good sealed or better yet, ported enclosure; it'll hit hard and sound great with any music.

I was afraid of that, the box is a sweet jl box,I might just have to go and buy a ported box. Thanks again for your help Lee
