Before I install the Moog outer Tie Rod ends on my Explorer does anyone know what the torque specs are for the Castle nuts?

Also how much grease should be pumped in? I have a standard lever action grease gun and am worried that I might break the seal if I pump in to much. Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks for any help or advice.

I've never really used a torque wrench for tie-rod ends. Using a torque wrench could leave the nut in a position where the cotter-pin hole is inaccessible. Then you'd have to back off the nut to line up the hole which would make the torqued value irrelevant.

It's more a matter of getting a good tight fit on the nut and then lining up the castellations with the cotter-pin hole.

As far as the grease goes, just give it a few good pumps. You'll know when you've got enough as a fine line of grease will begin oozing out of the joint. That's when you stop.

Good luck!

I thought you said you were going to sell this truck. If so, why all the work into it?

Nah, I love this truck. I get frustrated sometimes but it is still my boy. Can't beat it, change something or fix something and its as good as new. :D

Thanks for all the excellent replies.

Glad to hear you are keeping it.
