Hello and welcome to the site! My wife has a 99Explorer that had the same problem. I'm an idiot when it comes to transmissions so we took her to a shop. It's also under warrenty so I'll let someone else do the hard work. The transmission needed to be rebuilt or replaced. Never really found out what was wrong with it. Try the search feature on this site with keywords such as "flashing OD light" and I am sure you will find alot of info on this issue. Good luck!
When the O/D light flashes, it means that a trans code has been set. The code can be read with a scan tool to find out what the malfunction is. The dealer or an independent trans shop should have a scan tool that can read the code.
