Hey guys, i wanted to know something.I have a 2000 Ex xls.I checked my trans fluid while trck was running and did the spot test, fluid was fine but i notice when i am driving and i get to about 25mph there is a slight hesitation and i am thinking even though the fluid was changed that maybe the filter wasn't( fluid changed before i bought the trck) and that is what is causing this.I just put in a new fuel filter so that is good to go.Anyone think that the trans fluid filter is the problem? Also my overdrive light comes on and starts to flash like every now and then and it happens like every 2 or 3 days.
I read somewhere that cleaning the battery posts has been known to stop this from happening esp when there is some buildup on the posts. Thanks for all your help guys.

You need to get the code read. I tried with my Actron Cp9135 but it didn't pull transmission codes. Ended up getting a engine scanner and it pulled the code.

How many miles on the vehicle? Do you know the repair history? Who changed the fluid and did they use Mercon V or better?

I would get the code read first. It will give you an idea where to start looking to correct the problem.

Its liek 98,222 miles on it and the fluid used was Mercon V.As far as repair there hasnt been any flood damage etc done to the vehicle .Where can i go to get the code read? Thanks for your help.

i have been havin this exact same issue for about 2 months now, even after i had to replace the transfercase. but i have noticed that when the light comes on, my x slams into and out of second gear pretty hard and loud, anyone noticed that?

Yes. Mine started about two months ago and lasted a couple of weeks. OD light flashing and hard shifts in and out of 2nd.

Then, the light stopped flashing and it started shifting smoothly on its own. All was well for for a few weeks. Started back again today. Same hard shifts in and out of 2nd with OD flashing. I haven't read the codes yet.

Would like to know if this can be resolved without a complete transmission overhaul. Cottman did a rebuild nearly 3 years ago (33,000 miles). Fluid was changed again within that time period as well. Can't really complain about the Cottman job since it lasted a fair amount of time & miles. Cost was $2200. 204,300 miles on the truck now.

Aaron I was advised to check with an ATRA trans shop. You can find one in your area on the web www.atra.com. I bought my own scanner to pull the code. Waiting for parts and book to arrive before I drop the pan.

I've had the same problem for about a year. OD light flashes and shifting is rough into second. This week while on vacation, the OD light has been flashing and I have lost first gear completely while in Drive. The car starts in second and moves to third. By manually downshifting to 1st, I have been able to start off fine and then shift the lever into Drive with all working well. I will be repairing this as soon as I get back home and will let you know how everything turns out.

2000 Exp. EB with 175 K and still running very strong!
