Hey all. I have a 98 Eddie Bauer :exp: a few months back it started doing some weird stuff...
While going up hill at rates of 45 MPH there was this weird grinding noise coming from the area of the transmission. If I turned the O/D off the noise would go away and I would continue to climb in speed.
This continued for some time. Then it started to happen when NOT going up hills, then periodically at lower speeds.
Now, not only do I have that noise periodically, but while driving at a steady pace (regardless of speed) the tach will reve up between 2 and 3 WITHOUT pressing the accelorator further.
Someone has told me this is the OVERDRIVE belt but inorder to fix it I need a new transmission or rebuild this one.
I research EVERYTHING... Hell I changed my own wheelbarring by doing just that, but I CANNOT find any information to substantiate this.
Any ideas?????
Oh and the Check Engine light IS on... but I was told that is because of an aftermarket gas cap (cant stand the locking ones)
