I can no longer kick my explorer out of overdrive. I have the pushbutton on the end of the shift lever. Anyone have this problem? I am thinking that the contacts in the button or wiring is bad. (At least I am hoping and its not in the tranny) Any info guys??

Thanks

If I remember right

The overdrive button just pops out and it fits in a socket. Jumper the two connectors of the socket momentarily with a paperclip and you should see a change or check resistance on the switch with a meter.

The button it self pops out or the whole knob on the end?

Yes, I used a rasor blade on the back side when I had to take mine off when I spilled some pop on it which caused it to stick.
