I am just curious, and would like to do this. But I have read that the overhead console, will just bolt right into every explorer, the holes are already there for you to bolt into. Is that only for 4-doors, of for Sports too. I have a sport, but didn't think to look when I had the headliner down. So I'm just wondering if this will be an easy install. Thanks guy.

It'll pop into a sport also. The hardest thing is the wiring. If you've done wiring before (or even if you haven't) the wiring isn't really that hard, it's just a pain running it everywhere.

yea the wiring is not a problem. I think I underestimated the cost of the console, the one I was bidding on on eBay went for $110. It came with the temp sensor too, but thats a little high for me.

Keep looking on ebay, they go for better prices than that. I think I got mine for about $40 and I found a temp sensor in another auction I got for about $10.

Seen lots on eBay for around $40. BTW - where's the external sensor located??? I'm just curious. It seems to be pretty accurate whether sun or snow.

I believe it mounts up by the radiator, from what I've read. How do you find that on eBay, is there a part # you can search, or like a name for this sensor so that I can find one as well?

Yeah it mounts around the bottom drivers side of the radiator. When I installed mine I put it behind the grill up near the top of the radiator. Under the headlight access flap.

I searched for ford temp. sensor or overhead temp. sensor or something like that.
