I am a newbie on these forums, and happy to see such an active group that are enthusiastic about their vehicles.
My 2000 Explorer overhead console temp reading is about 30 degrees off. It goes up and down as the outside temp changes, but it is always reading about 30 dgrees too low. I presume that the temp sensor is bad.
I priced a replacement sensor with my local Ford dealer, and they say that the list price on the sensor is over $40.
Has anyone ever tested one of these sensors with a meter to see what its electrical specs are, and/or cut one open to see what it consists of ? Is there any other type of temp sensor that is readily available at a reasonable price that will work with the Explorer overhead console temp electronics ?
Any thoughts on the subject will be appreciated.
