I am the proud owner of a 92 Sport and I recently bought the leather seats and overhead console out of a 97 Explorer. I installed the leather seats and they work fine however I went ahead and mounted the overhead console and temp sensor and wired everything up and nothing shows up. I get the map lights and it worked fine when it was in the donor vehicle. I followed the wiring listed in the thread on here:

http://www.explorer4x4.com/overhead.htm

The only thing I wired differently was the power wire which I tapped into a Black/Green wire under the dash. It should work whenever the key is turned. I've also read how sometimes the computer in the console gets a loose resistor or something and causes it not to work so I checked mine and I couldn't find anything wrong with the board. Is there something that I am obviously missing here with this? Is there anything else I should check before assuming my console got fried somehow? Any help would be appreciated.

im not sure how to help you, but i can say that im gonna go look for a black or maroon overhead console to put in my 93 2dr. thanks for showing that thread link lol

hmmm..wonder how that would work on my explorer with a manual sunroof... might just find one of those somewhere and install it :P

I have a manual sunroof on mine and I had to mount it about an inch further forward than where it should be for sunroof clearance so it doesn't fit the curvature of the headliner perfectly but it is still hardly noticeable.

I did the same thing with my 94. Works and looks great! What I would do is pull your console back off, it's just 2 screws and a plug, hook a jumper wire to the ground prong and console electronics power prong on the plug and touch those to a 12 volt battery(I used the one off my cordless drill) and see if you get a display on the screen. If you don't, you might have that loose diode solder socket that they get, but if it worked before you pulled it out it probably still does. If it works with your battery, you need to take your multimeter and check your wiring on the other plug.

Good Luck!

Well the hunt begins...thanks for posting that link:thumbsup:
