I live in Phoenix and when the weather began to heat up I turned on the A/C and the gauge shot to the "L". When I turned off the A/C it cooled right down. Since that time I have changed 3 thermostats, one fan clutch, one temp sensor, one radiator, one water pump and two radiator caps. I use a 195 degree thermostat. I have also "bled" the radiator from infor on this site. With the A/C on the gauge never goes above the L. Since it doesn't heat up without the A/C on, could it be possible the original A/C unit is putting too much drag on the engine? I am suspicious of the A/C unit because it shuts down when the temp gauge goes above the A.

Mine was doing that but when I got a new fan
clutch it ran really cool with or without the
a/c on. Try checking the fan clutch again.
Also maybe check the fan blade.
