P0735 fault code.

Hi

I've just got the fault code po735 up ( gear five ratio error ) and the man at the garage has told me I need a whole new gearbox. Is this true or can it be fixed

Please help !!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the UK Explorer owners section. Check the internal wiring harness, and the solenoids before you replace the whole transmission. What is the year of your vehicle?

hi and welcome, not really but does mean a rebuild, the 5 gear band could have snapped. i take it you can only go around in 4 gears when your on speeds over 55mph

5th gear is virtual (computer controlled), and not a physical gear. You could check the adjustment of the bands to see if the adjusting studs keep turning without tightening to spec.

away on holiday at the moment, driving with the overdrive button pressed in. seems to drive ok like this but obviously need to get it sorted
