2003 Ford Explorer XLT
hi guys so I bought a used 2003 ford explorer which I love but unfortunately it was a bad private sale and check engine lights went on after driving away. apparently the od light is flashing and doesn't shift into overdrive and I noticed this post on here before but never got tbe answer I was looking for. what would be the price to fix the solenoid or what price am I looking at in general?? and is it worth fixing? I paid 3000 for the car which is otherwise in really good condition. please help me!

Hi Kmosher,

The code P0745 has a few possible solutions.

Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty line pressure solenoid valve
- Line pressure solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- Line pressure solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection

Hope this helps you get your Explorer back up and running properly.

If you could provide the engine size I am able to provide a little more detail on the code.

I believe it is a v6

When I get home I will be able to upload some photos of diagnostics that can be performed to resolve this issue you are having.

took it to a transmission shop to get a full diagnostics done.. need to rebuild tranny which is what I was afraid of. 2900$

I would get a second opinion. Sounds like it could just be a harness and solenoid module problem if you're lucky.

Plus 2900 sounds high. I would think more like 1900.

so I took it back today to get fixed and the guy said he knocked up the price because he wanted me to get my money back. he's going to give me a better price and he owns an explorer himself. he said the common misconception is when people see that code they think they only have to replace the solenoid pack which some crooks will tell you so they can keep getting your money to get it fixed. im suing the seller for half of the cost if they don't reimburse me. its part of the lemon law in Massachusetts.
