Recently my tailpipe going into muffler was broke or rusted.
I replaced muffler with a thrust turbo muffler but don't have any tailpipe after the muffler.
My 2003 Explorer with 4 0 and 4wd recently threw 2 codes p2195 lean b1s1 and p2196 b1s1 rich. Engine not running good.
Likely things to check?
Would no tailpipe after muffler cause this?
Clogged cat?

I suggest you check your cats to see if they are clogged. I had the same 2 codes on my 2003 Ford Sport with the 4.0. It was running lousy and I couldn't track it down for a long time. Finally I tracked it down to 2 things. On cylinder #3 there was a bad head gasket. It allowed the fuel directly into the exhaust port of that cylinder yet didn't allow coolant to leech into radiator like an classic bad head gasket. The raw gas going into the exhaust port turned the cat cherry red which was very visible at night with the naked eye. Raw gas will of course burn up a cat very easy.

The answer for me was not to take a chance of replacing the obvious bad one side head gasket and pray the other side didn't also need replacing. In addition with 125K on the engine, the question of should I also do the timing chain cassettes also factored in. I chose to get a low mileage used 2007 Ford Mustang 4.0 engine and used that long block for my Sport. I didn't change or repair any timing cassettes since the used engine had less than 50k mileage. The engine continues to be trouble free plus quiet and dependable.

How do you check cats?
Would no tailpipe after muffler do it? I reset code and it hasn't returned yet.

Fuel system 2 states N/A.
Is there only one fuel system in 2003 Explorer 4.0?

P2195 code returned today. I believe using lot of fuel and sometimes bucks or jerks.
Vacuum leak?

65 or 64 psi on fuel rail dropped to 60 pretty quick after turning off and was 35 psi about 2 hours later.
Tried spraying carb cleaner this morning for leak didn't notice anything.

Replaced fuel filter, 1 o2 sensor and spark plugs again went from 8 to 16 mpg. I also connected new muffler to tailpipe. Still bucking and jerking.
Wondering if it's the coil pack.
Auto zone is 80.00 and Ford is 150+.
Would Autozone coilpack be fine?

Replaced coil pack and air filter was still bucking. Then I replaced wires and cleaned mass air flow sensor and driving home tonight It didn't buck so hoping finally fixed it.
