- 98 explorer limited
Hi,
I have a 98 ford explorer, 4.0 4wd. Last April my check engine light came on right before my inspection/emissions (Pennsylvania) were due. My technician ran the codes and replaced what was needed oxygen sensors ect. Then one code kept coming up "code not found, pre-existing". He reset the computer several times and after much frustration had to make me "exempt" for my emissions. The catch to that is that I had to spend an extra $150 of work to be eligible to be exempt plus most shops will not do it at all. Now its almost April again and inspection is due. I had 2 other techs run the codes and both came up with the same "code not found, pre-existing" engine light still obviously on- Has anyone ever come across this problem and found the answer??? Any help would be greatly apprciated!
