I'm enjoying the 3" PA body lift now it's in, but I've noted that the steering extension has added a new 'clunk' in the steering.

I didn't have to trim or alter it at all, and it went in quite well. My steering shaft is the older style with the u-joint setup. However, the slotted portion of the extension that slides into the shaft on the steering wheel side is 'loose'

The bolt is in with locktite, and torqued down, but there seems to be some play between the keyed extension "male end" and the original shaft "female" end. Nothing is about to fall off, but there is enough slack between the fit that the extension 'flops' when turning the steering wheel (transmits nicely to the palms of your hands!).

Any suggestions as to if I should pull it out, build it up with tape or something? It just strikes me that all that play is going to only get worse over time.

TIA

Hey Tom Ive heard of binding due to angle with the 3inch lift but notbecause of slop. when I did my 2 inch the extension was a pain because everything was so tight. Flaming river makes replacement shafts but they are big $$. oh yea thanks for the arm rest info it was in time :) Good luck

Toad, do you think that some electrical tape wrapped around the shaft would tighten it up enough? Or would it just break down? Maybe if I pack it with loctite........;) If it would soften the clunkety-click feeling just a bit, maybe I wouldn't worry so much. I don't think it'll fall apart, but I would love to make it better (but not flaming-river better$$$$$$) if you know what I mean :D

Hey if its easy to do its worth a try, cheap fixes are great. You may have to use the handymans secret weapon :D
