I'll have to let you guys know. My new bracket may come in just before that weekend. If so, I'll be there. How many vehicles are going?

Ryan,
You should be able to get 300-600 bucks out of your front end depending on how you sell it and the buyer's needs. I'd be willing to give you 350-400 based on the stuff I could use out of it. At least if the pieces I want are in good condition. (Hubs for spares, radius arms, locker, and your 1/2 life coils (i.e. 5 of 10 months...lol.))Either way, I'm sure you will be loosing money on it though if you just replaced the front R&P and all that.

Rodney

I'm starting to think i'll make more money parting it out. find some bronco 2 guy that wants to upgrade to the dana35, and sell the arms, steering and everything else seperate.
before i part it all out though, i need to find myself a donor vehicle. i think i'm going to keep the axles full width. that way i can use both the 44 and 9inch.

I just saw a 97 Ranger supercab with Bronco running gear in Hillsboro yesterday. It's at a dealership, and they wanted $16,800 for it. Can you imagine??? Looked good though on 35" Super Swampers.

Ryan,
I think you'll make more $$$ if you part it out. Just a lot more of a pain. If you do, I'd like first dibs on the radius arms.

Rodney

Sounds good.

Well, the snow run yesterday was less than i expected. or more, depends on how you look at it.
snow was waist high, drift up to 4 foot, vehicles were getting stuck left and right. the ole' winch on my x was getting a work out. then, at noon, we decided to turn around. all 6 of our vehicles then had the fight of our lives. 8.5 hours later, we were off the mountain. at some points, we physically had to push trucks in order to get them moving, winching had no effect in the ice and snow.
the damage was minor, i blew my locker i think. although, we had to leave one guys vehicle on the mountain, an '89 toyota pickup. he got stuck, backwards, in a snowdrift. i only had 2wd at the time, and i couldnt winch him out. we broke a tow strap trying to tug him out. hellla night i say. temps below freezing. batteries draining. by far the most difficult run i've ever been on.

Sorry I missed it.

That sounds like it was fun. I am sorry I wasn't able to make it. Oh, well, I am sure we will see more snow Jan 6th.

Sorry to say, but I might not be making an apearance on the 6th.
Why?
Because I found my donor vehicle (if the deal doesnt fall through). A '75 F150.
I'm thinking of using both axles, and keeping them fullsize. We'll see.

I am not sure how that effects the 6th but if your looking to use coil springs in the front your lower spring pads won't line up in the front and your radius arms will be on the outside of your frame rails. Just a thought, but how does that effect the 6th since you weren't planning on bringing the x anyway?

I'll be working on the swap on the 6th. Hopefully.
I'll see. I might go. I'll know better next week.

Ah hell. Looks like more than some axles are being swapped. my tranny started to go out on my today.
hows this sound? swapping an f150s 302, tranny, tcase and axles?

That sounds awesome but you'll need to get some sort of fuel injection kit to keep from dying at high angles. I think Edlebrock makes one. If you do that you can also use the Klune V underdrive and keep the stock low range plus have the 4:1 low range of the crawler and the low low range of the crawler and t-case combined.

whats a ballpark price on klunevs?
first, i have to find the truck. i want a manual, so the search will take a while.
what the f#@%, i'll come sat. kev, can i ride with you? too damn cold to ride on the quad.

The 6th is Sunday and you are more than welcome to ride w/ me. Once you get started let me know and I will be more than happy to come and help.

Ya, Sunday, thats what i meant.
Gonna be awhile till I start. And I will be needing help. I want to gather all the parts before I start. First, I need to find and purchase the f150. Then I need to tear it apart. Then, rebuild engine/tranny/tcase if needed. Then I tear the X apart. Then I install. Sounds simple enough. Shouldn't take more than 2 weeks :)

Just remember what you said to me, "take your time and do it right!". I hate doing things twice as I am sure you do so if you do it right the first time, all you have to do is fix the little bugs. I finally fixed the tranny crossmember the right way and I still need to locktight my steering linkage as it keeps coming loose. I know when it's loose because the truck doesn't like to go in a straight line anymore and requires alot of steering correction, but the problem is identifieed, just not addresed, YET!

What time will you be here Sunday morning?

whenever

what time do you want to leave your place?

I know I said I was gonna make it but the sched for the new year came out and I've got to work the weekend so I'm gonna miss it....Sorry.....Hope to wheel with you guys sometime.

Chris
