I wanted to order a Tuxedo Black LTD yesterday and the dealer informed me that Ford wasn't taking anymore orders for Tuxedo Black during 2011.. This bummed me and has re-thinking my desire to purchase the 2011 Explorer. Wasn't sure if I would be happy with it in any other color. Still not sure... Guess I will wait to see when it becomes available again.

Funny...but on a serious note. Do you think new explorers in this color will have traces of radiation on the paint? This could be a major issue in the future..

Frankie- the 2012 production will be starting soon. They've already stopped accepting fleet orders for 2011 even...

Check this out- I'd wait a couple months to get a 2012 model year Ex... Which those MY vehicles are scheduled to start ordering in June, and production in July...

So I found an interesting post over at blueovalforums.com from a user named ice-capades who claimed to be a ford dealer advertising manager.

He claimed:
"Ford is in the process of scheduling the final 2011 Explorer orders now with the cut off date for fleet orders being 04/22/2011. The 2012 Explorer Order Bank was scheduled to open on 05/08/2011 but the 2012 Explorer Order Guide has not yet been released to Dealers. 2012 Explorer scheduling is set to start on 06/16/2011 with a Job #1 Date being 07/18/2011."

I got it from an internet forum so take it for what its worth, but I thought it was interesting news.

Thanks Joe, I was unaware of this upcoming transition date from 2011 MY to 2012 MY.

Can you clarify on the term of fleet orders - is this individuals ordering vehicles or fleets/companies? I often see the term amongst the forums however I am not sure exactly what it refers to.
