I decided that I was sick of the amount of rust on my fabricated bumper, side steps, and the frame itself. I went out and bought rustolium black spray paint, and started spray painting black. It actually looks a lot better. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to maximize how long it stays this way, and anything to make it not looks so flat black like primer? Thanks, Todd.

if you just painted over the rust it will be back within 2 months. at the very lest take a wire brush to it, and use rust mort, then repaint them

Yeah, you're going to have to sand it down and apply paint to unrusted metal... otherwise it's just going to get worse.

If you don't remove all of the rust clean and paint it normally then clean the rough stuff off and use POR-15 or another rust converter then paint over it.

If you don't have one, take it to a shop and have them sand blast the rust. Way easier and far less time consuming. If you have really bad rust, then you might get pivots in the metal and you could always just lay a layer of mud over it lol.

At least that's what I realized when I started body work 2 years ago lol.
