i really wanted a set of procomp series 7089 wheels for my 04 fx4 ranger but they dont make them with my bolt pattern. then i realized they look really similar to my stock wheels except for the color. could i paint my stock wheels black? what kind of paint should i use and would i have to take off the origional finish?also, what about powdercoating? how much would that cost for all 4 wheels and how much tougher is it than regular paint? has anyone done this before, do you have pics of how they turned out, painting and/or powdercoating?

I would not recommend it, but if you want to make sure you sand them down pretty good, so the paint will stick.

I did it on a blazer I used to have. Just make sure you throughly clean them and scuff them up. I used duplicolor wheel paint, then cleared them. It looked great. About every 6-10 mths they needed some touch up, however I think they needed that because the reason I painted them was they were rusty and looked like crap before the paint job.

I've thought about it but decided against it. If I do anything, I'll powercoat them or just get new rims.

powder coating is 100 bucks a rim.
