My winshield wipers came with black paint, and it has started to peel off into a chrome color on both the back and front wipers. Can I paint these and what paint(spray paint?) should I use? Also, how long will this take? Any answers will be greatly appreciated and coveted.

Thanks,
Ryan

any regular spray paint will work. get the satin texture. not the gloss. it'll take like 1-2 mins to paint and 24 hrs or less to dry.

You may want to get them powder coated. I believe that all windshield wipers now are powder coated, and not painted. The powder coating process will make for a much more durable finish. If you use can spray paint you will have to touch them up from time to time.

I really don't think that power coating is neccessary. I painted mine first with adhesion promotor, then with flat black paint. They have been like that for over a year with no chipping.

I took mine off my truck, ran fine sand paper up and down them a few times, cleaned them, and then painted them with flat black rustoleum grille paint. Do a few coats (I did 4 or 5) and let dry. Mine look great!:D

Adhesion promoter huh? I'll have to try that, if I can find some "adhesion promoter" around here. Is that just a fancy name for primer? I've painted mine and they look great but I have to do it about every 8 months because of chips and paint flaking off. I used flat black and it looks professional.

It's not regular primer, it's clear and has a flex agent in it. It is mostly used for plastic bumpers. You can find it at most auto parts stores.
