I need to replace my parking brake cable and/or the related components. Stepping on the pedal it barely moves and I remember years ago that spraying some WD40 in the sheathing temporarily fixed the problem. If I pull down on the cable under the driver seat it moves freely towards the pedal but I can't sense much movement towards the rear rotors.
My questions is:
Should I anticipate that the shoes have locked up and focus on the hardware/shoe replacement because the cable moves and I can't see any burrs or damage to it? If one shoe locked up would that cause the pedal to barely move and would that inhibit the movement of the other shoe?
Thanks in advance. I'm away from my Haynes book and this has been stewing on my mind for the last few days.
