Okay, does anyone out there have access to the Ford Parts System lookup, hopefully with some cross-reference information? The reason I ask is because I bought a cargo mat / cargo logic system off ebay the other day. The ad said it was part 3L2Z-7811600-GA, and the outside of the box said the same thing. The box was opened (he took pictures of the item out of the box), but the item inside doesn't seem to fit my 02 Explorer with the 3rd seat, as it should according to that part number. So I flipped the mat over and looked at the part number on the mat itself and it says the part is 3L2J-78455A00-GA. What bothers me is the core part number (7811600 vs 78455A00) is different... Now maybe one part replaced the other, which is possible, but then the box part number wouldn't be different than the part number stamped on the item itself, right? Can anyone look up this 3L2J-78455A00-GA part number and tell me what application it is for before I contact this guy and tell him the part number he sold me is not the same that he advertised?

Thanks much in advance!

Can anyone help me out with what this part number is used on?

Hey there! Let me read through your post and see what's up... :) Thanks!

Ford says the first part no. is for the item advertised. The second no. is an engineering number that supersedes the first part no. You have an 02 4door XLT w/a 3rd row?

Yes, 02 Explorer with the 3rd row....

I thought, but am probably wrong, that the way Ford part numbers work is that with the example of 3L2Z-7811600-GA that the first part (3L2Z) was the manufacturer of the part, and that the 7811600 was the actual part number. It was advertised as part 3L2Z-7811600-GA, but the part I got (per the back of the mat, NOT per the box) was 3L2J-78455A00-GA. Are these in fact the same part (one is a replacement part for the other), or are they different? With the seat up, this may doesn't seem to fit at all... the 'end' is higher or taller than the seat, which is what made me think it might be for something different than advertised...

Thanks for your help!

No prob... But if it doesn't fit, part no. doesn't matter. I'd be curious to know why it doesn't fit. Is your 3rd row factory or aftermarket? You might want to go with a more reputable seller. That's just odd...

Here's the part no. finder... but I checked your numbers with the dealer.

Yes, it's a factory 3rd row seat... I've searched lots of parts site, and the part number as advertised and shown on the box all come back as the part that should fit my explorer. However, the part number on the actual mat itself (3L2J-78455A00), whenever I run that it always comes back as no part found... that's why I was wondering if it's an old part number or someone. This was a dealer that I bought it from (on eBay). I just wanted to be prepaired when I tell him it doesn't fit (as he said no refunds, check with your local dealer first to make sure it fits), that the part sent doesn't match the box or his ad.... I'm guessing he'll come back with something along the lines that the part number on the mat is an old part number, replaced with what he had in the ad or something like that... I wanted to know if that's really the case, or if the part number on the mat (3L2J-78455A00) was really for something other than an 02-05 Explorer with the 3rd row seat... Since I can't find any info on this mysterious part number, it's hard to complain to the seller....

It sounds like they confused the part numbers. This case is odd, the product should fit. If it doesn't, that's not your fault - Ford says that's the right number. So the vendor has to explain -

So you can confirm that the two parts are interchangable? Maybe I'm putting it in wrong, but how do you put a cargo mat in wrong!

Ah, okay... 3L2Z-7811600-GA is the only part no. The other is for internal use. You might want to call another source, and ask if that engineering no. (3L2J) is on their product.

Okay, now I guess I'm really confused... the number on the back of the mat is not necessarily a part number? That's an engineering number, which doesn't necessarily coincide with a part number that would be on the shipping box? Is that the case?

For technical assistance or questions regarding Ford products, you might give 1-800-347-1200 a try. Mon-Fri 7am to 4pm Pacific. I got this number off of a Ford instruction sheet for my cargo liner.:D
