Parts availability

Just wondering if anyone has had issues obtaining parts for their older Explorers. Watched an automotive show the other day and they were commenting on how a lot of manufacturers are only supporting their vehicles for 10 years with replacement parts especially electronics. Sparked my interest when they mentioned not been able to source an ECM for a 2009 Ford Explorer.

This has always been an issue. Try to get parts for a vehicle a year or two old, and they will say that it's too new so it's unavailable. The dealers used to work with printed books at one time, then got rid of them after ten years. They work with software now so I wonder if they have access to old manuals or they just update their computers every so often.
