Parts interchange

Just curious as to what parts from different years and models will interchange. My 05 Explorer check charging system warning appeared yesterday and I lost all power as I pulled in my driveway tonight; the gauge kept dropping rapidly on my way home. So as an example I had put a new alternator on my 00 F150 back in the spring which is parked now so I'm wondering if it will fit the explorer, and if going to an auto recycler knowing what will/won't fit would be very beneficial. Thanks for any tips!

What engine do you have in the F150 and the Explorer? If you have a 4.6L in both it will most likely fit. You may have to swap the pulleys, though.

Well, it's easy enough to swap them round. Pull them both and compare them. As long as they bolt up the same then you're good. Like I said be sure to check the pulleys.
