What is wrong with your engine. No real good way to tell you where to spend it on your rebuild unless we know where you need it. You need heads? Machining work? Pistons? Valvetrain components?

I'm gonna be honest with you, it is kinda hard to tell a person what they need to do with an engine sight unseen without any idea what is going on.

like i said the top end was done heads were rebilt all new gastekts
after it was all put together i ran it two weeks maybe. it went through more oil than gas so im thinking piston rings and what ever else maybe on the bottom
i have not had a ford 4L befor so i dont know what is common to fail
(i all ready found out about the top end:rolleyes: )

Before you start spending money find out where the oil is going,it could be as simple as an intake leak sucking the oil into the combustion chamber.

Stop throwing money at it until you know what's wrong,do a compression check and a leakdown test. Are the plugs fouled, does it smoke? It's your money so feel free to waste it but I would do the basics first.:D

was it burning oil before?i had a problem with a new head i got where the three bolts that the rockers mount on,the middle one had been taped or drilled to deep going into one of the intake runners.the middle post or bolt hole is where oil comes up to oil the rockers and with it being drilled to deep it would have sucked oil into the intake causing it to burn oil like crazy but i caught it.so if it wasnt burning it before maybe something to check.

im going to check the top end to but when i get it runing this time it has to stay runnin thats why im spending the time to pull the hole thing out
