Hey again everyone, since I cant find an exact answer, I thought I would ask.

My friend has a 01 ford ranger edge that has been "totaled" and i was wondering if some of his aftermarket parts would fit my 2001 ford explorer sport. we both have the v6 motor. the parts im interested in getting from him are 3" lift kit (dont know what kind yet), 33" rims and tires, a roll bar type bumper in the front (single type bar that holds the lights westin bullbar kinda style) and maybe a couple of other nik-naks here and there. Do you think its worth checking it out? especially since its free or dirt cheap, or dont even bother with it b/c its not going to fit/work. there is nothing wrong with these parts, his cab is damaged, but suspension etc is still all good. thanks for any input!

That stuff should all swap over pretty easily, If it's a 3" lift it's probably a body lift, so you'll need some different bumper brackets, and might need to change the bumper a little.

What he said.

The body lift will work fine, make sure to get the steering extension from the steering shaft under the hood. The wheels and tires will bolt up fine to the X. You will need the 3" lift he has as well as probably doing a Torsion Twist and shackles or add a leaf to get the 33s to fit nicely (do a quick search on how t do this). Since you'll need to fab new bumper brackets with the body lift it should be pretty easy to use the front bumper. It might not fit the body perfectly since its for a ranger but it will be pretty close.

The only thing that concerns be about the bumper is that the sports went to 3rd gen front panels, hood, grill, etc. so I'm not sure how well it will match up with that stuff.

Thats true, I forgot about that (and I even have the Trac! :p: ).

Ok, so the lift and tires will work for sure. The bumper you may have to modify some or leave off, but if you can get it for free then take it! I'm sure someone on here will buy it!

thanks for all the input guys. im going to go and see soon this week what all kind of goodies i can snatch off of it. one mans trash is anothers gold. right? lol

Hey, if his Ranger has the center console down around the gear shift (Manual trans) I need one of the hold-down screws for a buddy of mine... any chance he might be willing to part with it?

im quite sure i can work that one out. and yes, it has it. i am going to try and go to his house before this w/e, i will let you know for positive once i get there and talk to him again.

I'm trying to get ahold of my buddy as we speak... he showed it to me like a year ago.... IIRC, it was a screw-clip of some sort, and it holds the center console to the floor. I think the clip mounted to the bottom of it.... he'll hopefully call me back shortly...

Just talked to him.... He said that the part he's looking for is only available on the trucks with the FX4-Level-2 package, and only with the automatic transmissions. He said that if it's an FX4 L2 automatic, it's the cupholder on the floor. Pull the flaps out of the bottom of the cupholder, and the screw is at the bottom, and is like a 1/4 turn to remove it.

Also, if it's an FX4, he said he wants the lid to the center console too. Let me know how much he wants for it.

Thanks!

oh. well he doesnt have that fx4, just a manual trans, with just two plain jane cup holders. I went over there today and got there too late :( his dad works for a wrecker service, got tired of the truck being in his yard and has already hauled it off this morning. sorry guys. thanks for helping me out on the info anyway. i appreciate it.
