ok guys i replaced my driver side control arm yesterday and it was all one piece had the bushing and the ball joint but the right side does not it had the bushings and a round bar that the ball joint bolts onto but the part i bought is just like the other side it had the bushings and the ball joint all in one piece and its for the passanger side just like the driver side so should i take off the whole thing at the bushings and just replace it just like i did the other side or is there a reason they did that for allignment or anything, has anyone ever replaced this on the passanger side for a 96 for exploerer? i need to know i got my car taken apart and im in trouble and need to know what to do cuz the part i bought it all one piece but this looks like its in 2 pieces?

I just put all new balljoints on my 98. The upper control arm on the passenger side is 2 pieces. BUT, the new and UPDATED version is the one piece, so go ahead and put it on.

You just have to take off both pieces on the passenger side in order to use the one piece replacement. As a bonus, the one piece design is a bit more durable.

More durable than......?? The part that wears is the joint, not the arm. There's nothing more durable about the 1-piece arms. Less potential failure points? Sure. More durable? Not IMHO. I've had my original inner half on my passenger side upper control arm since the vehicle was new (171,000 miles ago). The next time the joint wears out, I won't even need to change the outer half; just the joint (Moog Problem Solver joints).

That's what I mean - the arm itself is more durable (not the ball joint) since it has fewer failure points. Granted, it shouldn't make a bit of difference in normal driving...
