I know this has been done at least once before, but has anyone else add extra passenger handles for entering and exiting the vehicle, or just holding on for dear life:D.
I especially like the pillar handles and would like to add a couple, both passenger and driver side and maybe the back seats, all because I took off the annoying stock side steps that were rusting. My grandpa might also want them for his Mercury Mariner if they work out well.

Anyway, other than the F-150 pillar handles, what can be used on an Explorer and a 2007 or 20088 Mercury Mariner (fancy Escape) and how can they be installed properly to support alot of weight. I weigh about 170, but for my grandpa, I'd have to guess around the middle 200's. He also had polio, making it alot harder to do any lifting or moving of the right side of his body and has been having a hard time getting in his truck so any suggestions will help.

Please post pictures, ideas, and good directions on installation:D. Thanks

I wasn't sure if the first one would be sufficient enough, but after re-reading it seems so. The second one I have never seen before and appears to be very infromational and the idea I will use. Thanks again

Also, forgot to ask earlier.

Would these same handles work for the Mercury Mariner?

I finally went to Ford yesterday to purchase the A-pillar handles from the first url and each handle is $56 and the clip covers are the same price as in the thread. I think I'll go to a local junkyard to find them.
